Tips for starting school

Getting your child ready to start prep or school can be an exciting time!

To help make the transition smooth, try to establish a daily routine a few weeks before school starts. This includes regular bedtimes and wake-up times so your child gets used to the school day schedule.

Reading together every day, even for just a few minutes, helps build important skills and a love for learning.

You can also encourage independence by letting your child practice simple tasks like packing their bag or putting on their shoes. Attending prep transition sessions is a great way for your child to become familiar with the classroom, meet their teacher, and make new friends before school officially begins.

These sessions help ease any nerves and make the first day less overwhelming.

Talking positively about school and answering any questions your child has can also help reduce worries.

Small steps like these help your child feel confident, happy, and ready for their first day!
