School drop off and pickup
We kindly ask that students start arriving at school at 8:45am to ensure they’re here and ready for a 9am start in class. The street parking on Mena Street has now changed to “kiss and go” 5-minute parking. If you’re wanting to walk your children into school before 9am, you can park on Frawley Street.
To help our students settle into their day calmly and maintain a focused learning environment, we ask that parents do not enter classrooms after 9:00 AM. If you’re running late, please drop your child off at the office so they can be signed in. If you need to speak with a teacher, please contact the school office to arrange a suitable time.
Attendance
Regular school attendance is one of the biggest factors in helping students learn well and feel confident at school. Every day away from school adds up. For example, if a student misses just 1 day every two weeks, that’s about 10 days in a year, almost two full school weeks. Over time, this can make it harder for them to keep up with reading, writing, maths and class routines. Students who miss a lot of school often find learning more challenging because they miss important lessons that build on each other.
Being on time each morning is just as important. When students arrive late, they miss the start of the day, things like morning instructions, settling into the classroom and connecting with their classmates. This can make the rest of the day feel rushed or stressful. It can also interrupt the class and make it harder for the student to join in smoothly. Students who are often late can fall behind because they miss key explanations and routines that help set them up for success.
To help build strong habits, we celebrate good attendance at our school. Each week at assembly, we reward the class with the best attendance and the class with the most students arriving on time. At the end of every term, students who have perfect attendance receive a special reward. These celebrations help remind everyone that being at school every day, and being on time, makes a real difference.
Assembly
Our weekly whole school assembly is every Friday at 3pm in the hall. Families are welcome and encouraged to come along, there’s plenty of seating and plenty of awards being given out each week! Please arrive 5 mins prior to the assembly start time.
Head Lice Prevention
To help prevent the spread of head lice, we ask that all students with long hair keep it tied up while at school. Head lice spread mainly through direct head-to-head contact, which is common during play and close interactions. Keeping hair tied up reduces the chance of lice transferring between students. Regular checks and good hair hygiene at home also help keep head lice under control.
Sun Safety
To keep our students safe while playing outside, we ask that all children wear a hat during outdoor activities. Hats provide important protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays, helping to prevent sunburn and reduce the risk of skin damage. We also encourage parents to apply sunscreen to their children before school each morning to ensure they are well protected throughout the day. Together, these simple steps help keep our students safe and healthy while enjoying their time outdoors.
Packed Lunches
We encourage all families to provide healthy packed lunches to help students stay energized and focused throughout the school day. On Wednesdays, we have Nude Food Day, where students bring lunch without any packaged or single-use wrappers to reduce waste and promote environmental awareness. Each week at assembly we award the Nude food award to the winning class. To help students enjoy their meals calmly, eating time starts 10 minutes before they go outside. Eating nutritious food during the day supports children’s growth, concentration, and overall well-being, helping them get the most out of their learning and playtime.
